Green Fields Nursery School true to it's name is a home away from home where an imaginative & colourful ambience is provided to nurture the carefree young saplings till they blossom. An all round education is imparted in a fun filled environment where teaching and learning are carried out in an interactive manner in an atmosphere of love and care.

The children are exposed to a wide spectrum of experiences bringing about amazing changes in them while broadening their horizon and developing their intellect. Value based ecucation plays a pivotal role in education at GFNS wherein social, moral and spiritual values are taught keeping in mind India's rich cultural heritage and traditions.

2014-15
Graduation Day

Green Fields Nursery School organized the "Graduation Day" ceremony on 14th March 2015 to mark the culmination of journey of the kindergarten days. The School Director, Mrs. Shewta Kapoor was invited to grace the occasion.

The program exhibited a plethora of events which included various dance performances, melodious singing, short skit, recital of verse and sharing of experiences during the kindergarten days by the school children. School Headmistress Mrs. Akshi Dewan welcomed the parents and apprised them of the school activities during the year. She also encouraged the children and highlighted the awards and accolades achieved by them in various platforms. The kindergarten children were jubilant on receiving the honours from the school director. The program aimed at grooming and nurturing our children, the future citizens of the country. Parents were overwhelmed witnessing the performances of their children. They too shared their experiences of their association with the school during the kindergarten days. The program ended with the vote of thanks by the Academic Supervisor Mrs. Nupur Banerjee.

Recitation Competition

English Recitation Competition was organized for Nursery children on 10th Feb. Five children were selected from each section after the preliminary round. Kids recited different poems with actions presenting appropriate props . Topics ranged from colours to garden, importance of helpers to save the girl child etc. Children exhibited their talent with full zeal and enthusiasm.

Picnic

To get a breather from the class room mundane, every year school organizes excursion and picnic .This year too was no exception . Our school arranged picnic at Lodhi Garden and at Nehru Park on 20th and 23rd February. Children were very happy as they were excited to unveil a new term - picnic in their life. Amidst blooming of flowers, bright sun and historical tomb, kids enjoyed a lot. They had fun eating together. They played games with their teachers, ran races and learnt about sharing, caring and also the things need to be followed when they are outdoor. It was a great day filled with fun and frolic.

Medical Check-up

A team of doctors visited our school on 19th and 20th of February from Aakash Hospital, Malviya Nagar for medical check-up. They checked height, weight and overall health of the children .

Clay Moulding

Clay Moulding Competition was held for the NURSERY kids on 16th of January 2015 . It is one of the ways to develop the fine motor skills. Children were allowed to play with their imagination. They created their own imaginative figures using dough. It was great fun to see the little hands at work . It was quite an eye-catching experience as we could witness the creativity of our children in the models laid in front of us.

Kite Making Activity

To celebrate the eve of Republic Day , the toddlers of nursery class joined in a group activity on kite making. The kids were divided into two groups . Along with the outline of kites, children were given saffron and green colour paper for tearing and pasting. It was a great delight to witness the way the toddlers tore and pasted the papers on the kites. The children were excited to do the activity. The cognitive skills, creativity and observation are highly appreciated.

Republic Day

The 66th R-Day function was held in school on 23rd January 2015. A wide range of special activities were conducted in the school to instil the spirit of National pride and love for the country.

The day began with the special assembly wherein our children sang a couple of patriotic songs . They dressed up as National leaders spoke a few lines exhibiting their love for the country. The well synchronized march-past by the prep children enthralled one and all.

Quiz Competition

On 23rd of January 2015, our prep class children were given an exposure to face the challenges of life through "Quiz Competetion" activity.

A team of two members from each section participated in this competition. They were asked questions related to EVS topics and current events. The show was conducted by Ms Shilpa Pradhan , one of our Nursery Teachers. Through this activity, children could expand their general knowledge and memory skills and also had an experience of competitive spirit .

Nutrition Week

Eat healthy and stay fit ' was the slogan for our Nursery kids as they observed " NUTRITION WEEK "from 27th - 31st Jan 2015. An awareness on healthy and junk food were provided by the teachers to the children through various activities. A menu chart of nutritious food was given to the children for following during the Nutrition Week. Besides, all the 'Non- fire cooking' and 'Junk the junk food' activities were enjoyed by one and all.

Nature Walk

Children of Green Fields Nursery school went for a Nature Walk at A2 Block School on 28th January.

Annual Day

On 14th December , the Annual Day Function for the tiny tots was organised in the A2 Block School premises. The theme for the show was " SPECTRUM" , wide range of colours. The young artists in their resplendent costumes, showcased an array of talents . Thepresentation encompassed recitals, dance , rampwalk, patriotism and even sensitised people about the Swaach Bharat Abhiyan.

The event began with the lamp lighting ceremony by the school Director, Mrs Padma Khanna and other guests. The School Headmistress, Mrs. Akshi Dewan welcomed the parents and apprised them of the school's growth and accomplishment over the years in all spheres.

The toddlers enthralled the audience with their scintillating performance. The parents were mesmerised to watch the show and appreciated the fact that all students of Nursery and KG class were given an opportunity to showcase their talents.

Christmas

Christmas is celebrated every year in school with pomp and fare. This year was also no exception. We conveyed to the children that Christmas is all about loving and giving. To keep the spirit of X-mas alive, a CHRISTMAS TREE was decorated beautifully. The school wore a festive look . Children enacted the Birth of Christ through NATIVITY PLAY and sang carols. The school distributed gifts and biscuits to all the children. The day ended with the message of sharing and caring .

Fancy Dress Competition

It was an eventful week for GFNS from 27th-31st October as the school organised a "Fancy Dress Competition" for nursery children.

There was a hue of colours in the school as the children dressed up in different characters and portrayed themselves as helpers of the society. The children introduced their respective characters and talked about their professions. Many roles such as nurse, teacher, sweeper, farmer, cobbler and porter were depicted. It was a treat for the eyes to see the children speaking high of each profession and blending well into their characters. We are thankful to the parents who extended their whole hearted co-operation and support to make this event possible.

Gurupurab

On 5th of November, our school celebrated Guru Nanak Jayanti, the birth of the first Sikh Guru. A special assembly was held to mark this occasion. In the assembly, one of our teachers dressed up as Guru Nanak and narrated the biography of the saint.

Children's Day

Children's Day was celebrated with full spirit and enthusiasm at GFNS on 14th November. Fun, Fiesta and Food were the key words of the celebration. The day began with the special assembly where one of our teachers talked about Chacha Nehru, the first PrimeMinister of independent India and whose birthday is observed as Children's Day.

On this special day, our teachers presented a hilarious poem before the children and entertained one and all. They also tapped their feet on a few peppy bhangra numbers and made the programme livelier. The main attraction was the biopic of "Aunty Monica" played by the Headmistress, Mrs. Akshi Dewan.

"Sit and Draw" competition and "Breaking of Pyramids" were some of the main activities for the nursery children wherein they depicted the beauty of nature as per their imagination.

Last but not the least was a "Magic Show" by magician Deepak. It was a bonanza for the children at the end of the day which left a lasting impression on the young minds. They enjoyed his tricks to the fullest and went home with a packet of biscuits as a gift from the school.

Visit to a Post Office

Our children made an educational trip to the neighbourhood post office from 13th-18th October to mark the neighbourhood services week.

They visited the post office and were excited to know how the letters are stamped, sorted and put in shelves as per the areas they have to be delivered at. They were even eager to receive the post cards that they posted to themselves at the end of the visit.

Visit to a Fire Station

Our children made an educational trip to the neighbourhood Fire Brigade Station from 13th-18th October to mark the neighbourhood services week.

An educational and a fun-filled trip to the Jor Bagh fire station for our toddlers left a lasting impression on their young minds. They were thrilled to see the gigantic ladder, fire fighters and their uniform and huge hose pipes in the fire engines. They curiously observed each function of the fire station and were thrilled to share their experience.

Diwali Celebration

"The triumph of light over darkness, of good over evil."

This triumph of light was celebrated in our school on 21st October with full festive fervour. The whole school wore a bright and colourful look with diyas, garlands, lanterns and rangolis. The significance of the festival was narrated to the children in the morning assembly. Our nursery children presented a wonderful dance performance and also depicted the story of Govardhan Puja and the importance of Bhai Duj through a small skit. Teachers and children worshipped Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi. The mood was upbeat in the school.

Teacher's Day

A teacher plays the most significant role in the life of a student. He / she is someone who awakens joy in the creative expressions and knowledge of his/ her students.

A special assembly was held at GFNS to celebrate Teachers Day wherein the children expressed their gratitude to their teachers who are moulding them into bright,young,confident and responsible youngsters. Our teachers also spoke a few words on Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, the famous educationist.

Germination

The school is continuously endeavouring to broaden the student's horizon and prepare them to face the challenges of life through myriad of activities. Germination of seed was one such activity wherein our children conducted a small experiment using chana and mustard seeds for a period of one week to demonstrate and understand the process of "Germination". They were highly excited to see how a shoot comes out of a seed and thereafter converts itself to a sapling.

Show and Tell Competition

A unique platform was provided to the youngsters to showcase their talent and creativity through "Show and Tell" activity. The toddlers expressed their fondness while speaking about their favourite toys and animals. They blossomed with confidence as they got an opportunity to take the centre stage. The event was witnessed by young and adults.

Ramlila Celebration

The four days episodic enactment by the Prep children from the mythological story of Ramayana, popularly known as "Ramlila" ushered the festive fervour in the school.

The students dressed in different characters of Ramayana and depicted the story of Lord Rama's childhood days, his exile and his fight with Ravana for Sita's honour. This ended with the moral of "Triumph of Good over the Evil."

Traffic Awareness

The theme of the month for the nursery children was "Transport". As they learnt about various modes of transport and their functions, they got to know about traffic rules. Also our children observed Traffic Awareness Week from 24th-30th September where they learnt the significance of the three colours in the traffic light along with the importance of the zebra crossing on the road and the presence of a Traffic Police.

Ganesh Chaturthi (29th August)

It was a festive spirit at G.F.N.S when the whole school celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi on 29th of August. Our tiny tots sang Ganesh Vandana in the morning assembly that was followed by a dance and the Ganesh Aarti. Besides, our teachers narrated the story of Lord Ganesha and enriched the knowledge of the children.

Inter-School Competition Amrita Kala Sangam 2014 (27th August)

Six girls and a boy from Prep class participated in the Inter-School Masquerade (ramp show) at Mata Amritanandamayi Vidyalaya, Saket, where the young students got a chance to depict the "Dolls of the World". It was a great platform for the toddlers to represent the school and showcase their talent.

Nutrition Week (25th August-29th August)

Our children observed a Nutrition Week from 25th August-29th August. They were given a fixed menu for the week which included healthy food like Veg Pulao, Upma/Poha, Sandwiches, Paneer roll and fruit salad. This was to encourage the children to follow a balanced diet which is good for their health.

Potato Peeling

On 20th August our nursery children actively participated in potato peeling activity. They brought boiled potatoes from home which they peeled neatly with their nimble fingers and handed it over to their teachers. The teachers with those potatoes prepared mouth watering aloo chaat for the toddlers. It was a great learning experience for the children.

Puppet Show (20th August)

It was a treat for the children when Ms Meenakshi  (an alumni of the school) came all the way from Malaysia and presented puppet shows before the children on 20th August. Children were highly excited and thrilled to watch the puppetry

Janmasthami (14th August)

Janmasthami too was celebrated on 14th August. The whole school wore a festive look with a beautifully decorated cradle of Lord Krishna, flowers, garlands and tableaux. Our children came dressed in their gorgeous attire and depicted the story of Lord Krishna's birth through a small skit and dances. The chief guests congratulated and boosted the children and teachers by applause and praises

Independence Day (14th August)

Our tiny tots were holistically involved in the Independence Day celebration on 14th of August to celebrate 68th anniversary of independent India. They paid rich tribute to their motherland and her great heroes through songs, dances and skits.

The chief guests for this occasion were Mr. Anil Khanna and Mrs. Shweta Kapoor respectively. They witnessed the programme and appreciated the tiny tots for their outstanding performances.

Rakshabandhan (8th August)

Rakhi is basically a sacred thread of protection embellished with love and affection of a sister for her brother. To mark this festival our girls dressed in traditional attire tide Rakhi on boys' wrist to strengthen the bond and express love for their friends. This was followed by singing of a Rakhi song.

Rythm and Rhyme

In order to boost each child's confidence level, the school organised a recitation competition on 30th and 31st July.

Fruit Chaat Day

Childhood is the period of rapid physical growth and psychological development. Therefore, healthy diet is one of the most important components in the overall development of the child. Keeping this in mind, our children had Fruit Chaat activity on 28th of July. The parents were asked to send any one fruit of their choice for this activity. Children with lot of enthusiasm handed over their fruits to their respective teachers and lend out their hands in making of the Fruit Chaat. It was a great experience for the children to learn and know about fruits and their nutritive value through such fun-filled activities.

Monsoon Mania

Monsoon Mania was celebrated in school through a flurry of activities. Children made gumboots, umbrellas, peacocks, boats as a part of their Art and Craft activity. Teachers demonstrated PPTs related to monsoon season in class and children had umbrella and frog race for sports activity. Besides all these, a special assembly was conducted by the teachers on 25th July. In the assembly, monsoon related things were shown to the children and few songs were sung.

Fun in Splash Pool (21st July - 31st July)

The school organised a Splash Pool activity for our toddlers from 14th July - 23rd July in the school premises. Children sported in swimsuits, caps and goggles dived into the pool, splashed water at each other and felt energised in this sultry weather.

Sports Activity

Regular exercise and other physical activities help the children to grow healthy and fit.

In the month of July, children had participated in the following races :

Cleanliness Week (7th July-11th July)

A plethora of activities kept the young ones on toes as the school observed cleanliness week from 7th-11th July. It was a treat to observe the toddlers speak confidently in the morning assembly on self hygiene and cleanliness. A litter free day was observed to make the children aware to keep the surroundings clean. Besides all these, the power point presentation by the teachers and special assembly on Friday the 11th on cleanliness enriched the knowledge of the children.

Doraemon visits Green Fields Nursery School

The School reopened on 2nd July 2014 after a long summer break. Our little ones joined back with zeal and enthusiasm. Teachers were at the gate to welcome the children with colourful balloons and ensured that the children felt settled and comfortable after a long break.

Doraemon was the prime attraction of the day. Children were highly delighted to see their favourite cartoon character in their own school premises. They had loads of fun. They hugged, touched and felt the presence of their dream cartoon character at the fullest.

Nimbupani Day

The school's constant endeavour is to make learning a pleasure for the children through various child centric activities. Keeping this in mind, our school observed "Nimbu Paani Activity" from 5th-9th May 2014. The little ones lent out their nimble fingers in squeezing lemon, stirring sugar and salt in water in making lemonade. They learnt the goodness of lemonade during summer and had the refreshing drink. The whole process was enjoyed by our enthusiastic learners.

Rabindra Jayanti

The students of G.F.N.S celebrated the 153rd birthday of Kaviguru Rabindranath Tagore. They paid their homage to Gurudev which started with an opening speech by a teacher. The celebration continued with a couple of Rabindra Sangeet by the students. The teachers too came up with a performance to enchant us all and make us feel that Kaviguru is still alive in our hearts.

Earth Day

Earth Day was celebrated in the school on 22nd April 2014 with the theme "Save the Mother Earth". The celebration began with a speech on the significance of the day and need to observe it daily. Our toddlers like Dhairya and Nandini of Prep-F spoke a few lines. Teachers also apprised students on how to save the Mother Earth. Children of nursery and prep commemorated this day through various activities like colouring and collage making depicting the glory of the nature.

Mother's Day

On 9th May our toddlers made bookmarks embossed with "Happy Mothers' Day" for their dear mothers as a carry home activity. It was a token of love for their beloved mother who has shown this beautiful earth to them.
