Green Fields Nursery School true to it's name is a home away from home where an imaginative & colourful ambience is provided to nurture the carefree young saplings till they blossom. 2017-18
Republic Day

The 69th Republic Day function was held in school on 25th January .Our children spoke on R-Day exhibiting their love for the country .Students from Prep class and class-I dressed up in regional costumes and spoke high of each region .They sang and danced on the song “Sare Jahan se Aacha ”, thus showing unity in diversity .The well synchronized march-past by Prep children captivated one and all .

Visit to Fire Station

Our school children visited Jor Bagh fire station in the month of December as a part of their educational trip. They observed keenly the equipment used to douse the fire. They saw big water tank along with a hose pipe, axe, special jackets which are used by fire- fighters. It was a thrilling experience by our children.

Visit of Post Office

Visit to neighbourhood place was one such activity which was planned for our children in the month of December. Our students visited the neighbourhood post office (Safdarjung Post Office).The students were excited to see a big letter-box where letters are dropped. They also curiously observed how the letters are sorted, stamped and finally kept in different shelves as per the area. It was an opportunity for our children to interact with the post-man and the post-master.

It was great experience of the students which left a lasting impression in their young minds.

Christmas

The festival of joy, sharing and caring celebrated in school on 23rd December. The school wore a festive look by the pictures of reindeers, Santa Claus, bells etc.

Our children sang Christmas carols during the morning assembly and one of our teacher narrated the story of Jesus Christ.

Gurupurav

Guru Nanak Jayanti was celebrated in school on 3rd November. One of our teachers dressed up as guru Nanak and narrated the story of the saint in the morning assembly. A small prabhat pheri was also organised to mark the occasion.

Children’s Day

Children’s Day celebrated in school with full enthusiasm and gusto. A special assembly was conducted for the children where few children spoke about “Chacha Nehru”. Our teacher explained the students the significance of this day. They also presented hilarious poem to entertain the children. They enacted on the story “Sleeping Beauty” presented a mind-blowing dance performance. Besides, a magic show by one of our teacher was the bonanza for the children. Students enjoyed the day at the fullest and had a packet of biscuit.

“A sit and draw” competition was also organised for the children.

Show and Tell

School organised “Show and Tell”, a unique competition for our toddler to show-case their talents.

Our children spoke confidently on various means of toy transport and their importance in our daily lives. They showed their creativity and talents as they got an opportunity to take the centre stage. The show was enjoyed by young and adults.

Fancy Dress Competition

Fancy Dress Competition for the Nursery children was an eventful day. The theme was “Our Helper”. It was a treat to watch the children dressed up in different characters and portrayed themselves as the helper of the society.

Children introduced themselves as Doctor, Fireman, Teacher, Milkman, Policeman, Farmer and Vegetable seller respectively.

They spoke very high of each profession and their need in our society.

Picnic

Our children went to Nehru Park and Lodhi Garden for their class picnic. It was a breather for the children from the regular classroom learning.

They played games, enjoyed food, experienced the historic tomb amids beautiful nature and loved the company of their friends.

Gandhi Jayanti

To mark the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti , our children paid a tribute to the Father of the Nation on 3rd Nov. In the morning assembly they sang the bhajan “Raghupati Raghav ” and presented a small skit on “ Gandhiji and his Three Monkeys ’’ with the moral ‘Don’t see evil ’ ‘Don’t talk evil’ and ‘Don’t hear evil ’. Besides, one of our teachers spoke about Mahatma and encourage children to recite poem on Bapu .

Diwali

The festival of lights was celebrated in school on 17th Oct. with lots of pomp and show .The whole school was decorated with lanterns, diyas and flowers . A small puja and arti were performed by the teachers and children . Our children dressed up in ethnic clothes performed dance on a nice Diwali song and the significance of the festival was told to the children .Besides, our nursery children presented a small skit on Govardhan Puja and depicted the importance of Bhaiya Duj. A few children also spoke about the festival and highlighted the negative effects of crackers .

Teachers’ Day

A teacher is someone who plays a most significant role in the life of a student.

On 5th of September, a special assembly was held at the school premises to mark the occasion of Teachers’ Day. Our children expressed their gratitude to the teachers who are moulding them into bright, young, confident and responsible youngsters. A few children spoke on the occasion and presented a beautiful song and dance performance dedicated to their teachers.

Dusshera

“A reaffirmation of the goodness in us which always triumphs over evil.”

The mythological story of Ramayana (Ramleela) enacted by our students on 26th of September. Our children dressed up in different characters of Ramayana and depicted the story of Lord Rama’s childhood days, exile and his fight with Ravana for sita’s honour. This ended with the moral of “Triumph of good over the evils”. Besides, our children performed a melodious dance performance to offer prayer to Durga Maa.

Germination Activity

Our continuous endeavour to broaden the horizon of our children and prepare them to face the challenges of life through myriad of activities.

Germination of seed was one such activity wherein our children conducted small experiment using chana and mustard seeds for a period of one week to demonstrate and understand the process of ‘germination’. They were highly excited to see how a shoot comes out of the seed and thereafter converts itself to a sapling.

Rakshabandhan

The sacred festival of Rakhi celebrated in school on 4th August. To mark this auspicious occasion our girls dressed up in their best traditional attire and tied Rakhi to the boys’ hands and offered sweets. Boys in return gifted them chocolates. They sang songs related to the festival and presented a dance performance.

Independence Day/Janamashtami

The spirit of Independence Day and Janmashtami reverberated in school on 11th August. The whole school was buzzing with patriotic fervour. Our children paid a rich tribute to the motherland through song, dance and skit. They also spoke a few lines on National Leaders. The chief guests for this occasion were Mrs. Mini Khanna, Mr. Anil Khanna and Mr. Rahul Kapoor. Our children enthralled one and all by their scintillating performance.

Janmashtami too was celebrated on the same day. Our toddlers presented a dance drama depicting the story of Lord Krishna's birth. They also presented a dance on melodious Krishna song. The programme was witnessed by children and adults. Our chief guests highly appreciated the young talents and thanked our teachers.

Our visitors from Australia

It was a great moment for the children, when a team of students and their teachers from Shenton College, Perth, Australia visited our school on 3rd August. The whole school was decorated with Indo-Australian flags and the symbols. Our children put their best foot forward and show-cased their talents. They presented a classical dance, a small skit on 'Healthy and Junk Food' conveying the message "Eat Healthy, Stay fit". Besides, our young tabla maestro, Vinayak played the tabla and enthralled one and all. The visitors mesmerised to see their talents. They appreciated the children and spoke very high for the school.

English Recitation Competition

In order to boost children’s confidence level, school organised Recitation Competition on 10th August. Children recited poems on various titles like tree, moon and star, junk food - healthy food, my personality etc.

Know your Fruit

Childhood is the period of rapid physical growth and psychological development. Therefore, healthy diet is one of the most essential components in overall growth and development. Keeping this in mind our children had an activity "Know your Fruit". The children brought a fruit of their own choice and spoke on the same. It was a great experience for the children to know about different fruits and their goodness.

Ganesh Chaturthi

Ganesh Chaturthi celebrated in school on 25th August. Our children invoked Lord Ganesha through melodious Ganesh Vandana followed by a dance performance on the song "O my friend Ganesha..." One of our teacher narrated the story of Lord and enriched the knowledge of our children.

Cleanliness

The school observed cleanliness week from 10th – 14th July. An array of activities were performed in school to keep the children busy. It was a treat to see the toddlers speaking confidently in the morning assemblies on self-hygiene and cleanliness. A litter free day was observed to make the children aware to keep the surroundings clean. The power point presentation by the teachers and special assemblies on cleanliness enriched the knowledge of our children. Besides, Health and Hygiene Day was observed on 12th July. A tremendous response by the children and parents. Children came to school neatly dressed, trimmed nails, proper hair cut and polished shoes. To upbeat the mood all smartly dressed children were given a badge ‘I am Smartly Dressed’.

Monsoon Mania

Monsoon Mania was celebrated in school through wide range of activities. Children made umbrellas, peacocks, gumboots and a monsoon scenery on a paper plate as a part of their art and craft activity. Teachers demonstrated PPTs related to monsoon season in the class. Children and teachers spoke regularly in the morning assemblies. Children also had umbrella race for sports activity.

Sandwich Making

Healthy diet is essential for the overall growth of the children. Therefore, school organised Sandwich making activity for the children on 28th July. Our teachers brought all the ingredients to demonstrate the process of ‘Sandwich Making’. Children observed minutely and also lent out their hands in making. They enjoyed the sumptuous and healthy sandwiches and learnt the goodness of having it daily for breakfast.

Earth Day

Earth day was celebrated in school on 21st April with the theme "Save the Mother Earth". The celebration began with a speech on the significance of the Day and the need to observe it daily.I.D.Pranav of Prep-F gifted a small plant to the school and our children like Shankara of Prep-A, I.D Pranav of Prep-F and Harshal Pawar of Prep-A spoke a few lines.
Besides our students participated in a few activities like colouring and collage making depicting the glory of the nature. Children also learnt the following things:

  1. Do not waste water.
  2. Use paper bags.
  3. Do not use polybags.
  4. Do not cut trees.
Lemonade Activity

Lemonade is always considered as the best health drink for children and adults during summer season.
Therefore, our children were taught the art of making Lemonade through a fun- filled activity. Our teachers brought all the ingredients like lemon,salt and sugar and showed the process of making Lemonade. Our enthusiastic learner lent out their tiny hands in making of refreshing drink and enjoyed it thoroughly.

Rabindra Jayanti

Our toddlers celebrated the 155th Birthday of Tagore on 9th May .They paid their homage to Gurudev through song ,dance and poems. In the morning assembly children were told about the nobel laureate and his contribution in Indian literature . The dance performance and Rabindra sangeet by our tiny tots mesmerized one and all.

Mother's Day

Our children paid a small tribute to their mothers on 11th May to mark the occasion of Mother’s Day .They sang songs ,danced on a lovely tune and also spoke high of their mothers expressing love and respect for them. As a token of love children gifted a Mother's Day Card on this special occasion.

Earth Day

On 22nd April our teachers organized a special assembly, aimed at creating awareness about the Earth Day. The importance of ‘Mother Earth’ and the role of every citizen in promoting sustainability were told to the children.

Our students participated in a few activities like hand printing collage making and colouring under the guidance of their class teachers.

Lemonade Activity

'A glass of fresh lemonade is always a welcome drink for one and all in the scorching heat.' Therefore, the art of making lemonade was taught to the children through a fun filled activity on 27th April.

The toddler activity participated in making of the refreshing drink with their teachers. They keenly observed the process and lent out their hands in squeezing lemon, mixing sugar and stirring salt. They enjoyed the drink and learnt the process with a lot of enthusiasm.
