Green Fields Nursery School true to it's name is a home away from home where an imaginative & colourful ambience is provided to nurture the carefree young saplings till they blossom. An all round education is imparted in a fun filled environment where teaching and learning are carried out in an interactive manner in an atmosphere of love and care.
The children are exposed to a wide spectrum of experiences bringing about amazing changes in them while broadening their horizon and developing their intellect. Value based ecucation plays a pivotal role in education at GFNS wherein social, moral and spiritual values are taught keeping in mind India's rich cultural heritage and traditions.
The children of Preparatory class participated in an in-house quiz that tested their knowledge about current affairs. The Spell Bees of our school participated in a Spellathon competition this month. The children with excellent handwriting put their skills to test during the handwriting competition.
The children of Nursery learnt to accept wins and losses through Musical Chairs.
Medical camp was held for all children of the school in the month of February to keep a track of their wellness. A team of well qualified doctors conducted general examinations and checked the BMI of all the children of the school.
Children of Nursery and Preparatory visited a Post Office to learn about the community centre and how the letters posted are delivered to the recipients.
The children of Preparatory and Nursery visited Lodhi Gardens and Nehru Park respectively for the class picnic. It was a fun filled day as they played to their heart’s content with their friends and teachers.
The school reopend after the winter vacations on 7th January.The children were very excited to come back to school after a long break. A plethora of gross motor and fine motor activities ensured that the children were welcomed after the Winter Vacations.
The 71st Republic day was celebrated on the 24th January. The event was celebrated through a special assembly where teachers spoke about the significance of the national festival. A colourful programme sowed the seeds for patriotism in the future citizens of our country. The children were advised to watch the grand Republic day parade, held at Rajpath on TV and share their experinces with their classmates and their teachers.As a part of Republic day celebrations, various activites like kite making, flag colouring etc were held.
The Martyr’s day was observed on 30th January at the school. The children were told about the importance of the day. The staff and the children observed silence for 2 minutes at 11 AM to show respet to the Martyrs who laid down their lives for the country and to show reverence to the Father of the nation.
The children of Nursery learnt about the traffic lights through a fun filled activity.
The season of spring was welcomed with a lot of enthusiasm in the school. Children learnt that Basant Panchami marks the end of winter and the onset of spring season. A special assembly was conducted to educate the children.
The children of Nursery and Preparatory visited the Jor Bagh Fire Station to learn about the way the Fire- Fighters help our community. The field trip was an enriching experience to all the children as they watched the demonstrations in awe.
Christmas was celebrated in school where children of Nursery were given take aways made by them in class. They learnt the significance of the festival from their teachers. The children of Preparatory made New Year cards for their parents.
The children of Preparatory learnt about the community helpers through a role play. The children of Nursery participated in a Fancy Dress Competition and Show and Tell Competition. The children of Preparatory became little artists while they participated in the Drawing competition.
Germination activity was undertaken for children of Preparatory classes. The children sowed seeds and watered their plants with care and watched them grow.
The Fancy Dress Competition was organized for Nursery. The children enthusiastically turned up dressed as community helpers and spoke about how each of them help in making our lives easier.
The birth of the Sikh Guru was marked in a sombre manner at the school. Teachers narrated various stories of the Sikh Guru. The occasion saw children participate in the “Prabhat Pheri” , dressed as the “Panch Pyare”.
The confidence and the vocabulary of the Preparatory children was put to test in the Show and Tell Competition on the topic “Transport”. The activity helped them over come their fear and made them confident speakers.
The children learnt the journey of a seed through a hands on activity.Each one of them planted a seed and watered it with lot of care and watched the seed grow into a plant.
To give the children an experience that will help them in real situations, a traffic park was set up at the school premises. The children learnt the various signs that they see on roads. They learnt the traffic rules in an interactive way. This experience will help them follow that rules when they travel on the roads.
The month of October saw the celebrations of Dussehra. The little ones of Green fields Nursery School enacted the Ram Leela in the school premises. They learn the significance of the festival and the value of “Good triumphs over evil” was instilled in them. They carried home “Raavan face” as a take away.
The children of nursery learnt sportsman spirit through the Partner race.
The much awaited festival of the year was celebrated with a lot of gusto at the school premises. The children of Nursery and Preparatory classes put up a spectacular show reflecting the genesis of the festival of lights. They participated in many group activities to decorate their classes and school to welcome the Goddess of wealth in all her glory.
The children of Preparatory will put their creativity to test and participated in the Clay Molding competition. The creativity displayed by children left everyone spell bound.
The children of Nursery learnt the concept of primary and secondary colours in an amusing manner. They learnt that red and yellow mixed together gives orange.
Keeping with the theme of the month, children of Preparatory made masks of various animals to display in the school. This activity was much enjoyed by all of the children.
Teachers day was celebrated on the 5th September to mark the birth anniversary of Dr.S.Radhakrishnan. As a part of a special assembly, children were told about the great leader. They were taught to respect their teachers.
To instill healthy eating habits in the little ones, Nutrition Week was observed from 2.9.19 to 6.9.19. Children were encouraged to bring healthy snacks specified by the school as per a diet plan which was thoroughly enjoyed by them. A healthy plate activity helped them learn the benefits of healthy eating. They took a pledge to eat healthy food and avoid junk food.
As a part of Nutrition Week, children saw demonstration of Sandwich Making. All of them relished the yummy sandwiches made for them by their teachers
The festival of the most beloved God, Ganesh Chaturti was celebrated with utmost pomp and glory. Children enacted a small skit on Lord Ganesh. This was followed by a dance that left everyone spell bound. A group activity for Preparatory class saw children decorating pictures of Lord Ganesh with various materials. The children of Nursery made “Modaks” as take away.
The children of Preparatory and Nursery visited the Jagannath Mandir in Hauz Khas. They went around the temple and learnt about the deity who is worshipped there. The visit was much enjoyed by all the children.
The month of august saw a robust fervor in Green Fields Nursery School as the school geared up to celebrate the 73th Independence Day. Various activities guaranteed to instill the value of patriotism in the future citizens of our great nation.
Green Fields Nursery School celebrates Independence Day with a lot of pomp and enthusiasm, as we believe that the school is the place where seeds of tomorrow are sown. This annual extravaganza was graced by Mr. Anil Khanna, Chairman, Green Fields School, who was the chief guest. Mr.Rahul Kapoor kindly consented to be the guest of honour. The celebration kick started with the flag hoisting and the children sang the National Anthem with a lot of pride. A spectacular programme showcased the culture and heritage of India in all its glory. The spirit with which the children showcased their talent left everyone spell bound.
Various activities saw children learn about diverse aspects of our country in a fun filled manner. Children coloured the tri-colour, which was given as a take away. The children learnt about the national symbols with many hands on activities.
The incredible bond of brothers and sisters was witnessed during the Raksha Bandhan celebrations. The children tied Rakhis and danced to the tunes of eternal songs. The day saw a plethora of activities that aided in socio-emotional development.
The school celebrated Janmashtami on 23rd August with a lot of fanfare. The little Radhas and Kishnas gave the school a festive look. A skit was enacted that showed the children the story of Lord Krishna in all his glory. The children donned the colourful “Mukuts” and “Flutes”that they lovingly created with their little hands. The celebrations culminated with the traditional “Dahi Handi”.
Green Fields Nursery School observed Cleanliness week from 15.7.19 to 19.7.19. The aim of this week was to instill clean and healthy habits in children. They were encouraged to keep themselves and their surroundings clean. This week also saw demonstrations on the correct way to wash their hands and brush their teeth. The children who turned out neatly dressed were rewarded with a badge by the Headmistres
Green Fields Nursery school aims at grooming children to face the world equipped with many skills. To develop knowledge of computers and technology, computer classes are held for the students of Preparatory class. The skills will include colouring, key board and mouse skills etc.
To advance gross motor development in children, frog race was conducted for Preparatory. The children took part in it and learnt about fairness in play.
The month of July was a fun filled and enriched month at Green Fields Nursery School as the much awaited Monsoons were welcomed with much gusto. Going with the theme of the month, “Monsoon Mania”, the children experienced many sensory stimuli that made learning pleasurable.
Keeping with the theme of the month, children of Nursery witnessed “Bhel puri” making and children of Preparatory relished a corn chat made by their teachers.
The children of Nursery and Preparatory worked on their gross motor development with the umbrella race. The colourful umbrellas brought out a vibrant atmosphere in the school.
To aid fine motor development and to ensure hands on learning, children of nursery experienced many activities in this month. They strengthened their pincer grip by tearing and pasting and learning the colour green by painting and bubble wrap painting.
Children of Preparatory welcomed the rainy season with many group activities that taught then the importance of working as a team. The activities included bhindi printing on frog, ear bud printing on mushroom, sponge printing on clouds, paper crumpling on corn, mosaic pasting on umbrella etc.

To promote scientific temperament in children, demonstrations on how we experience rains and how a rainbow is formed was shown to the children. Children of Nursery learnt the concept of mixing colours in an entertaining way.
To ensure holistic development in children, children of Preparatory participated in English Recitation Competition. The confidence of the little ones left everyone spell bound. The children of Nursery put their fine motor skills to test with Paper Tearing and Pasting Competition.
To encourage hands on learning, teachers demonstrated “how to make lemonade” to their respective classes. Children learnt new words and were taught how to give step by step instructions in order to make delicious lemonade.
Summer is the time children love to play with water. Children enjoyed the fun activity where they splashed in water with their friends.
Summer is also the time for everyone to enjoy ice creams! Children relished the ice cream on the day we at GFNS like to call Fun Day!
On the birth anniversary of Gurudev Shri Rabindranath Tagore, the children from Prep class presented a dance to commemorate the great man and his excellence in field of art and literature.
As the new session began on 1st April, GFNS welcomed a fresh batch of children to the nursery and prep classes. The Nursery children started their formal schooling and the Prep children crossed the first pedestal to reach their path of glory in the coming years. Teachers welcomed the children with “Smiley badges”.
At GFNS it is our constant endeavour to apprise the children about the environment and spread awareness about the same. As part of this initiative, the school celebrated “Save the Earth” week from 22nd to 26th April 2019. Every day, a fresh topic was chosen and the children and teachers put up a class wise demonstration based on the topic in the special assembly. Topics included, ‘Plant more trees’, ‘Save Electricity’, ‘Save Water’ and ‘Reduce, Reuse and Recycle’. The children also performed a dance on Mother Earth.
